- You need two balloons, one pear-shaped and one long. Blow them up, not too hard.
- Tie the end of the pear-shaped balloon around the middle of the long one.
- Cut diamonds of tissue paper (quicker with several layers at once) and glue them on from tail to head with wallpaper paste, only on half of each diamond so they overlap.
- At the head, glue the pieces down fully. Add paper balls as googly eyes if you like, covered with tissue paper so they stay put.
- When the fish is dry, cut a triangular hole at the top and take out the balloon remains. Reinforce the edge with a paper strip.
- Push a wire through two holes in the edge, finding the fish's balance point, and tie on a string.
Light it with an electric tealight or use it as a lampshade. Don't use real candles or bulbs that get hot: tissue paper catches fire easily.
